From slackersnation.com Sacramento, California is a wonderful place when you're talking about great music. Without the aid of months in a studio, or a big money contact to distract you ... Sacto has a local music scene unlike any other. The bands take that extra step, go that extra mile, in their hunt to perfect their sound. Circle of 5ths is just one shining example. One of the few rock bands out there fronted by a woman, Shyra (singer) proves that you don't have to be a man to show you've got balls of steel. She has that deep voice which sounds seductive at times. With a knuckle sandwich waiting in the wings, ready to strike when your awarness is down. It also serves as the perfect lead into Steve Mahoney's heart stopping guitar riffs. This magnetic combination is evident on every track of their "Blurring the Lines" EP, but best displayed on the disc's second track, "Consumate". Harmonizing throughout, Shyra and Steve make up the (what you could call) trademark 5th's sound with the aid of Mike McNellis (Bass) and Thommy Jacobs (Drums) providing the smooth under rhythms and beats. From the first chords to the last, it's obvious that great care was taken in order to make everything sound "just right", with no element of the band overshadowing the other. All four musicians are represented very well, and prove that Circle of 5th's will be a musical force for years to come. |
